IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norma Jean
Ford
July 2, 1928 – April 26, 2010
Norma Jean Ford, 81, of Canton, went to meet the Lord and was reunited with her husband, Bill, on April 26, 2010 after a brief illness. Jeannie was born July 2, 1928 in Washington, Pennsylvania to Walter and Dorothy (Hough) Wright and graduated in 1945 from Washington High School. She was an accomplished pianist who studied music at the Washington Seminary and was in great demand as an accompanist in her youth. Jeannie played the piano at every family gathering throughout her life, always ending with her husband's favorite piece, "Rhapsody in Blue." She was an excellent cook and baker, an efficient homemaker, a gracious hostess and a seamstress who did not need a pattern to create a dress for the dance. She loved being a stay-at-home mom, but when she did return to work she was a librarian for the Canton city schools. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother with a witty sense of humor, and her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She had many friends and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Circle and helped out in the Church library. The centerpiece of Jeannie's life was her strong Christian marriage to her husband, Bill, and the faith they shared during their fifty-years as members of the Church of the Savior. They were a loving couple and an example for their children. They enjoyed watching sports together, looked forward to their weekly card club, and loved to go out dancing. She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah (Dr. John) Idoine of Mount Vernon and Dotty (Mike) Ballantyne of Massillon; two sons, Bill (Carol) Ford of North Canton and Bob (Tina) Ford of Louisville; five grandchildren, Christine (Timothy) Proctor of Galena, Ohio, Dr. and Mrs. John (Robin) Idoine III of Columbus, Laura Idoine of Columbus, Ryan (Ashley) Ford of Cuyahoga Falls and Megan (Nathan) Wright of New York City; her brother, James (Janet) Wright of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, JoAnne Zavatski. A funeral celebration of Norma Jean's life will be held Saturday at 11 AM in the Church of the Savior United Methodist with Pastors Rev. Edward M. Fashbaugh, II and Dr. William R. Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, 5-8 PM in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 710 Tuscarawas St. W. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Savior United Methodist, 120 Cleveland Ave. S.W. Canton, OH 44702.
