Obituary

Nick Pavlis, A loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather, Nick Pavlis passed away on December 3, 2018 at the age of 94. Born September 11, 1924 in Logan, West Virginia, Nick grew up in Huntington, West Virginia. In 1942 Nick enlisted in the US Army as a radio operator and served in WWII. Shortly after his discharge from the Army, Nick moved to Canton, Ohio. It was here that he met the love of his life, Georgia (Lazarides). On January 11, 2018, they celebrated 71 years of marriage. Nick worked at Bond Bread until joining the United States Postal Office where he worked for 28 years and retired as Tour Superintendent. After his retirement Nick worked for the St. Clair/Pavlis Group, Inc. for 12 years as a painter. Nick was an avid Ham Radio Operator with his call numbers K8DNZ. He was a member of the Stark County Ham Radio Operators, the Holy Trinity Men's Club and Senior Citizens Club. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Georgia, father and mother, John and Fotini Pavlis, sister, Despina Tremoulis, brother, Jim Pavlis, and nephew, Nick Tremoulis. Nick is survived by his daughter, Ellen Romeo; son , John (Terry) Pavlis; brother, Paul (Dottie) Pavlis; grandchildren, Vincent Romeo, Nicholas Romeo, Diana Shimko, John Jason Pavlis and Matt St. Clair; great grandchildren, Paige and Savanna Goss, Alayna Pavlis, and April, Trent and Gauge St. Clair; five nieces and four nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. Papacostas, Dr. Wang, Dr. Rafique and the entire staff at the Danbury Assisted Living in Massillon, Ohio. Funeral service will be Monday 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Daniel Rogich officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in church (10 – 11 a.m.) In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund. Please sign the guest book.
