Ned A. Lemmo, age 85, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2011 in Mercy Medical Center. Born in Canton October 8, 1925 to the late Joseph & Rose (Maiorana) Lemmo Sisto, he attended McKinley High School and served in the Navy 1943-1945 primarily on the Destroyer U S McDougal, in the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans and the Panama Canal. He retired three times from Lemmo's Auto Service for 39 years, Eppy's Chevrolet and from the City of Canton where he worked on many projects including downtown Canton. Ned has also been a Deputy Sheriff having served in Avondale for eleven years, continuing to serve on the Sheriff's Reserve since 1964; he was named Deputy of the year in 1993. He also volunteered for many years and received a volunteer service award for the Italian/American Festival. He was Vice President and served several years the Ben V. Marconi Lodge # 1628 where he also chaired the golf outing along with Jim Rosetta. He was also active with the American Legion, VFW and the U S McDougal Reunion. Survivors include his wife: Beverly. Daughter: Rosemary Durbin. Granddaughters: Nadine (John) Nicely and Amanda (Nick) Mitchell. Stepchildren: Jack (Bonnie) Bolender, Marcelle Das. Two brothers: Vince (Rose) and Charles (Donna) Lemmo. Many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. with Minister Donald Zeger officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sons of Italy will conduct a service at 12 Noon on Tuesday.
