Nancy L. Chovan, age 90, of Canton passed away January 2, 2024, at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Bowerston, Ohio on July 31, 1933, to Charles and Wilma (Kail) Albaugh and is a graduate of Scio High School. Following high school, she moved to Canton and met the love of her life, Milan, in the early 1950s at a local Slovak Dance, they celebrated 62 years of marriage until the time of his passing in 2016. Nancy had a strong passion for music and the arts, one of her great joys was running an at home preschool, The Progressive Preschool Academy of the Arts. This school focused on music, theater, dance, and ballet.

She was also active in the MacDowell Music Club of Canton as an honorary member, served as past president and historian. She relished her role as an historian as well as serving on the organization's 100 Year Anniversary Celebration Committee in 2008.

Nancy was an active member of the United Church of God aIA in Canton where she served as an ordained Deaconess for over 50 years.

She is survived by her children Paula McCrea of Canton and Doug (Michelle) Chovan of Jackson Township; grandchildren Melissa (Richard) Mino and Jason McCrea; numerous nieces and nephews; beloved dog and companion Princess.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Milan; siblings Charlotte, Mamie, Patricia, Charles, and Vivian.

Calling hours will be Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the Arnold Funeral Home at 1517 Market Ave N. from 2-4 PM. Funeral services will be Monday, January 8, 2024, at the funeral home at 11 AM with Mr. John Miller and Mr. Ryan Hall officiating. Entombment will follow at North Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MacDowell Music Club of Canton.
