Myrta (Pollock) Gerren, age 86, of North Canton passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio. Myrta was born in Fairpoint, Ohio to Warren and Jeannette (Allen). Myrta was a 1953 graduate of Muskingham University, she was a beloved wife and mother, and spent 30 years as a teacher at Columbus, Ravenna, Canton, North Canton, and Lake Township Public Schools. Her family estimates that she taught between two and three thousand children to read throughout her career. She loved books, crocheting, and keeping up with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians. In the summers, she and her family enjoyed long, relaxing days at the October Hill Campground in Loudonville, where they have been a cherished part of the community for 41 years.

Myrta died peacefully on a warm summer afternoon, her family at her side. She is survived by her husband Harold Gerren; her sons Neil (Lisa), David, and Paul Gerren; grandchildren Allison, Emily, Sarah, Samuel, and Anne. Calling hours will be held Monday May 28th from 1-2 PM at John Knox Presbyterian Church at 5155 Eastlake St. NW, North Canton, Ohio 44720, with a memorial service to follow at 2 PM.
