Mildred Thomas

Mildred Thomas, 93, formerly of Valdosta, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on September 9, 2026 with her loving son by her side. She was born on July 10, 1933 in Blakely, Georgia.

In her younger years, Mildred brought her warm spirit and hard work to the Valdosta Country Club, where she managed the snack bar. She later transitioned to Shoney’s, dedicating many years of loyal service as a skilled line cook and food prep worker. Mildred also brought her strong work ethic and care to her community as a custodian for Valdosta Junior High School for many years.

She looked forward to Friday nights, where she could be found in the stands cheering at football games, with a special love for watching the marching band perform. A woman of deep faith, she was a dedicated and regular attendee of Sunday services. She was also an avid shopper, never missing the opportunity to shop locally or even when out of town.

Above all, Mildred’s greatest joy was her family, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Woodrow “Woody” and daughter-in-law Heidi Johnson and daughter Magerline “Maggie” and son-in-law Timothy Wright; beloved grandchildren Kyle, Gavin, Karis, Candida, India, Destiney, Gabriella, Madisyn, Timothy Jr. “T.J.”, Whitney, and Amber; sister Ethel Alexander; nephews and nieces, Glen, Edward, Kenny, Reginald, Cresy, Mabel, Lois, Ruby, Joann, Ruby, Larry, and Salem; and cousins Barbara Ann, Eddie Moody, Stephanie Jessie, and Kendrick Moody.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her sister Arthea Alexander and her niece Brenda.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 18th from 12-1 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Ave. N., Canton, Ohio, 44714. A Homegoing Celebration will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home and will be livestreamed for those that cannot attend.
