Obituary

Mildred Brown, who was born in Canton in 1915 and lived in the city for nearly her entire life, died March 11 at Bethany Nursing Home in Canton. She was 94 years old. She was an elementary school teacher in the Canton Public Schools for many years. With her husband Charlie, to whom she was married for 53 years, and who passed away in 1998, Mrs. Brown was very involved in the Canton Jewish Community throughout her entire life. She was one of the oldest members of Shaaray Torah Synagogue, and taught in its religious school for several years. She was also a member of the Shaaray Torah Sisterhood, Hadassah and other women's organizations supporting Judaism and Jewish education. She also made many friends volunteering for Mercy Hospital's Senior Friends, where she and her husband were honored as volunteers and appeared on the Senior Friends poster. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nanette and Donald Zamost of West Hills, CA, her son and daughter-in-law, Arnold and Joyce Brown of Piedmont, CA, and her grandchildren, Ashley and Adam Zamost, also of southern California. Funeral services will be held at Shaaray Torah Synagogue on Monday, March 15, at 1pm with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. Interment at Canton Hebrew Cemetery.
