Michael Babics, age 93, of Canton died Sunday afternoon in Windsor Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Braddock, PA to the late Milich & Sarah (Trbovich) Babics he had resided here most of his life. A veteran, having served in the Army Air Corp during WW II he was retired from the U.S. Department of Defense. Michael was a very active member of St. George Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church where he was past president, treasurer, choir director, and was a member of the Men's Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years Millicent in 2009. Survivors include a daughter: Cynthia Babics of Canton. Son: Dr. Michael (Angie) Babics of North Canton. Granddaughter: Aja (Ryan) Tompot of Richfield, OH. Two great grandchildren: Brady & Adelynn. Two sisters: Violet Dejanovich and Ruth "Boots" Capobianco both of Canton. Brother: Eli Babics of Milwaukee, WI. Also survived by in laws: Marie Haug, Miriam Zielkowski and Daniel Codan all of Pittsburgh, Mary Babics of Canton and Jane Babics of Texas. Funeral service will be Wednesday 11:00 A.M. in St. George Serbian Orthodox Church with the Very Rev. Dragan Filipovic as officiant. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday (today) from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. and one hour prior to the service in church on Wednesday.
