Merritt H. Clymer, age 97, of Canton died early Friday morning in Aultman Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Henry County, OH to the late George A. and Grace (Hulvey) Clymer he had resided here since 1953, and spent his winters in Florida since 1970. He was a graduate of Greensburgh High School and attended Taylor University. Mr. Clymer retired after 35 years of service as District Manager for Prudential Insurance Co. He was a member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Church, William McKinley Lodge # 431 F & AM, and AASR Valley of Canton. An avid golfer, Merritt was the winner of three senior tournaments. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his 1st wife of 54 years Helen in 1986, a granddaughter Michele Dauterman in 1994 and a daughter: Alta Dauterman in 2003. Survivors include his second wife Helen. Daughter: Mrs. Ronald (Carolyn) Buckridge of Massillon. Step son: Dave Richardson of West Chester, OH. Five grandchildren: Steve & Scott Dauterman, Denise Crawford, Donald Buckridge, and Diana Jones. Six great grandchildren: Jacob & Samuel Buckridge, Kyle & Todd Jones, Zachary & Lucas Dauterman. Sister: Mrs. Bill (Virginia) Tipsword of Galesburg, Ill. Brother: Wayne (Virginia) Clymer of Wazetta, MN. Son-in-law: Fred Dauterman of Columbus, OH. Funeral service will be on Tuesday 11:00 A.M. in Westbrook Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Jonathan R. Reese officiating. A private interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery Twinsburg, OH. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 6 P.M. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. and one hour prior to the service in church on Tuesday.
