Obituary

Mattie (Erb) Wittmer, age 94, of Hartville, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday February 19, 2013, at Walnut Hills Nursing Home. She was born in Millersburg, Ohio on May 8, 1918 to the late Peter and Fannie (Miller) Erb and was one of 12 children. She was a member of Hartville Mennonite Church. She quilted, crocheted and sewed. Mattie was admired for her baking, cooking, sense of humor and unending love of the Lord and her family. Preceded in death by her husband Raymond in 1987; son Ronald in 2011; grandson Andre Allen; daughter-in-law Victoria; son-in-law Roy Raber; 3 sisters Lydianne Coblentz, Ada Sommers, Fannie Yoder; and 6 brothers Daniel, John, Mike, Eli, Sam and Peter Jr. Erb. She is survived by children Joseph (Elsa) Wittmer of Canton, Caroline (Roy) Miller of Canton, Rose Wittmer of Hartville, Daniel Wittmer of Greentown, William (Debbie) Wittmer of Sarasota, FL, Richard (Ruby) Wittmer, Robert (Viola) Wittmer all of Hartville, Theresa Raber of Greentown; 18 grandchildren 27 great-grandchildren; sisters Anna (Abe) Miller of Millersburg, Clara Sommers Miller of Sarasota, FL; sister-in-law Ella Erb of Walnut Creek, OH; and many nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thanks to Walnut Hills Nursing Home caregivers for their love and care and to Community Hospice. Calling hours are Friday 4-7 PM at Hartville Mennonite Church and Saturday 10-11 AM before the funeral. Funeral services are Saturday 11 AM in the church with Pastor Ross Miller and Pastor Henry Shrock officiating. Final resting place is the church cemetery.
