Obituary

Mary E. Zartman, age 97, of Hartville and for the past ten years Chapel Hill Community, passed away peacefully on Monday morning July 25, 2011. She was born in Hartville on February 21, 1914 to the late Hamilton and Maude (Werstler) Kile. A Hartville High School graduate, Mary married Edwin J. on June 20, 1936. They lived together 66 years in the home Ed built for them when they married on the property of Mary's grandfather, Cornelius Werstler, which had been in the family since the late 1800's. Mary was instrumental in forming The Senior Citizens Group of Hartville in 1965 and spent many years with them in a leadership role. Mary volunteered at Chapel Hill Community and participated in many church functions at the Hartville United Church of Christ where she was a life time member. Her hobbies included various crafts such as needlepoint, embroidery and quilting. Her three daughters still treasure many of her keepsakes. Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law Jane and John Woodrow of Athens, OH; Judy and Mario Marti of San Mateo, FL; Alice and Charles Ross of Malvern, OH; four grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed in 2003 and her brother Ellis Kile. Calling hours are Thursday 5-8 PM at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. The funeral service is Friday 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Chapel Hill Community with Rev. Sandra Hutchinson officiating. Final viewing will be one hour prior to the service Friday 9:30-10:30 AM at Chapel Hill. Interment is in Mount Peace Cemetery.
