Mary was born on February 19, 1951, in Canton, Ohio and was the eldest daughter of Albert and Martha Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert A. Harris, and nephews Steven and David Harris. Mary enjoyed the love of their pet cat, Snoopy, for 17 years. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Steve Wilder; her sisters Margaret (Mark) Sharff and Molly Harris; sister-in-law Katy Harris; nephews Sam (Jamie) Sharff, Michael Harris (Abby Mongelluzzo); niece Betsy (Dan) Nelson; great nephews Al and Max; and great niece Maya.
In addition to Mary's immediate family, she was dearly loved by her Wilder extended family which includes Steve's siblings Lloyd (Kathy) Wilder, Rich (Tracy) Wilder, Dianne (David) Groenke; nieces Karen (Matthew) Walls, Kimberly Wilder, Carey (Terry) Lam, Stephanie (Josh) Bailey, Amy (Michael) Grinstead; nephews Geoff Groenke (Blake Wright), Greg (April) Wilder; great nieces and nephews Zach, Zoe, Andrew, Addison, Alexandra, Graeme, Wyatt, and Benji.
Mary worked as a bank manager for almost 20 years, 10 of which were in North Canton. She went on to work as a sales associate and designer at Studio Arts & Glass for the next 15 years. After retiring, you could find her at the North Canton YMCA front desk. Her volunteer experience included participating in event planning at the North Canton YMCA, Walsh University, Glenwood High School Class of '69 Reunion Committee, and many civic organizations supporting Steve in his role as Mayor and in Rotary International. Through Rotary, she received the Paul Harris Fellow recognition. Mary was a gifted artist and had a natural flair for decorating and design. She exhibited several of her colored pencil pieces at the North Canton Little Art Gallery.
A private graveside service will be held at North Lawn Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi John Spitzer, Rabbi David Komerofsky, and Pastor Jake Heskett. Please join Steve and family at an open house reception honoring Mary at Arrowhead Golf and Event Center, 1500 Rogwin Circle SW, North Canton, 44720 from 3:30PM - 5:30PM on Thursday, August 10, 2023. Remarks by Rabbi John Spitzer, Pastor Jake Heskett, and family will be at 5:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Canton Cares Pantry, 1300 Pittsburg Ave NW, North Canton, OH 44720, or a charity of your choice.
