Mary W. Runser, age 94, of Canton, passed away Saturday evening, June 3, 2006 in Altercare of Canton. She was born on February 23, 1912 on Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, TN to the late Jean F. and Gertrude (Huber) Weir. Mary retired in 1978 as a district manager for the Walden Book Company. She is a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she had served as Treasurer and also served on the Vestry and Junior Warden, she also managed the Next to New Shop. She was parliamentarian for Episcopal Church Women of the Ohio Diocese. Mary introduced and managed a church related Hospice Group and was an avid circus fan and served as the first women president of Circus Fans of America.. .Preceded in death by her husband Karl William Oscar Runser in 1977 and a daughter-in-law Carol Runser. Survived by a daughter Frieda Douthitt of Zanesville, OH; son Karl W.O. Runser Jr. of Athens, OH; two sisters Jeanne Ramsey of ME and Ellen Chamberlin of NY; and three grandchildren. Her wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held Friday June 23rd 11 AM in St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Pastor Barbara Bond officiating.
