MARY SCHEURING RAFFERTY November 8, 1920 - February 20, 2015 Mary Scheuring Rafferty, age 94, of Hartville, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on February 20. She is survived by her husband, Robert, who has been her loving partner for more than 72 years. Mary was born in Salem, Ohio on November 8, 1920 to William and Veronica Scheuring. Her family moved to Pittsburgh, PA, where she married Robert, her high school sweetheart on June 17, 1942. They later moved to Cuyahoga Falls where they raised 9 children: Robert Jr. ( Jane), Richard (dec'd 2008) (Valerie), Creighton (Mary), Kathleen (Bruce Scollin), Patrick, Terry (Peggy), Daniel (Marianne), Joseph and Maureen (Randy Stout). She was the second oldest of 11 children - 6 sisters and 4 brothers: Helen Prokupek (dec'd), Vera Gilroy (dec'd), William (dec'd), Mildred Voll, Richard, Wilma Haney, Winnifred Ritter, Wayne (dec'd), Virginia Haas and George. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 43 nieces and nephews. Mary was a beloved and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend. She was a person of deep faith, active in her church with the Rosary Altar Society, the Parish Garden Club and served as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound until she was 90 years old. The family is most grateful to Visiting Angels and Via Quest Hospice services for their loving and gentle care. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, at Little Flower Catholic Church, 2040 Diamond St., N.E., Canton, with viewing at 10:00, followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Her final resting place is Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
