Mary Adams Paige MORGAN (Polly) peacefully departed this life on Saturday, September 4, 2010 in Canton, Ohio. She was born March 3, 1920 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey to Frances Lincoln and David Raymond Paige. She spent her early years in Warren, Ohio, graduated from the Flora Stone Mather College of Western Reserve University and earned a degree in Sociology (cum laude). She won special honors as the outstanding major of her graduating class in her field. On July 24, 1943, Polly married Lt. Charles Alexander (Ed) Morgan USMC while he was home on leave from training for duty as a bomber pilot in the South Pacific Theatre. After the war, they settled in North Canton, Ohio. They were both avid mariners and travelers and circumnavigated the globe twice. Polly loved animals, and was a lifelong member of the Humane Society. She was also a member of the Junior League of Canton, the Canton Garden Club, on the Board of the Aultman Home, and always devoted her compassion, skills, and resources to helping others. She was a congregant and Altar Guild President in two Episcopal parishes, St. Mark's and St. Paul's of North Canton and Canton, Ohio respectively. She contributed needlework on both churches' prayer kneelers. Polly was a descendant of Bettie Washington Lewis, sister of George Washington, our first president. Polly is survived and honored by her husband of 67 years, Charles Alexander (Ed) Morgan, Jr., son, Brian Paige Morgan (Christy) of Massillon; daughter, Megan Lincoln Morgan (Craig Fischer) of Takoma Park, Maryland; granddaughters Heidi Mary Morgan (Yokosuka, Japan) and Lillian Mary Fischer (New York, NY); grandsons Shawn Alexander Morgan (Canton, Ohio) and Lincoln James Fischer (Washington, DC); and great-granddaughter Aya Louise Johnson (Yokosuka, Japan). The family wishes to express its gratitude to all of the healthcare professionals and hard working souls at Aultman Hospital, Affinity Hospital, Ten Lakes, Emeritus at Canton, and AseraCare Hospice. The family will receive friends at Spiker-Foster Shriver Funeral Home at 4817 Cleveland Avenue, NW on Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm. An Episcopal mass of Christian burial will be said at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Wednesday, September 8 at 1:00 pm. Inurnment will be private following the service.
