Mary Ellen Mani, age 88, of Canton died Saturday, February 5th in Western Reserve Masonic Communtiy after a brief illness. Born in Canton to the late Henry W. & Ann C. (Zernechel) Shadel she was a life resident. Mary Ellen was a 1941 graduate of Lehman High School, and a 1945 graduate from Miami University at Oxford. She retired from teaching Home Economics from the Canton City Schools after 32 years. She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, College Club of Canton and the Antique Group. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years: Richard F. Mani in 2009. Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Ralph (Marcia) Lowery of Stow, OH, Mrs. David (Valerie) Richards of Tampa, FL, and Mrs. Mark (Michele) Teden of Boston, MA. Son: Dr. John (Janet) Mani of Charleston, WV. Nine grandchildren: Jonathan, Sarah, Megan, Lauren, Courtney, Jib, Brett, Mallori, and Matthew. Three great grandchildren: Alexander, Camilla, and Elizabeth. A brother Charles (Rusty) Shadel of Virginia also survives. A memorial service will be Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 12 noon in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 710 Tuscarawas St. W.
