Mary Alice Heiermann, age 93, of Canton, passed away Thursday afternoon. Mary was born in Lafayette, Indiana; she won many awards playing the flute as a teenager. She graduated from Purdue University in 1943 with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy and obtained a teaching degree in 1966 from Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana. Mary taught at Cedar Elementary within the Canton City Schools for 21 years. Her faith in Christ was very important to her; her favorite verse was Acts 16:31 "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." A special thanks to all the kind and caring staff at the Inn at Belden Village and Clear Path Hospice. She is survived by 8 children: sons, John (Susan), Dave (Sue), Don, Bob (Devaki) and Jack Heiermann; daughters, Ruth Heiermann (Dr. Lawrence Rust), Martha (Curt) Tinlin and Jane (Mike) Gustafson; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Avenue N.W. with Pastor Jake Tovissi. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
