Martha P. Strauch, age 93, of North Canton passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014, in Aultman Hospital. She was born July 13, 1921, in Canton to Fred and Hattie (Bauer) Blum. Martha graduated from McKinley High School in 1939 and received her degree from Mount Union College in 1943 having studied English and music. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and performed at numerous events including weddings and the church choir at her beloved church, First Church of the Resurrection. She was also a member of the McDowell Club. Martha also taught 7th and 8th grade at Belden School prior to starting her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Bolton on November 6, 2013. Survivors include daughters, Nancy Strauch of Bedford, Ohio, Mary Strauch of Canton, Martha (Joseph) Bell of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; sons, Thomas (Lynn) Strauch of North Canton, Timothy (Arlene) Strauch of Avon Lake, Ohio, James (Karen) Strauch of North Canton; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Brian) Hiestand, Kendrick (Jordan) Strauch, Rick (Liz) Strauch, Jeff (Lindsay) Strauch, Andrew (Tara) Strauch Christianne Strauch, Erin, Megan, Leslie and Christine Bell; great grandchildren, Alexandra and Tristan Hiestand, River and Shea Strauch, Rose Strauch, James Strauch and Thaddeus Strauch; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth (James) Kandel, Mike Schmuck, David Schmuck, Barbara (Dan) Ellington. Preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Blum Schmuck. Calling hours will be Wednesday 10-11:00 a.m. at First Church of the Resurrection. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Bruce Mont officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
