Obituary

Martha L. Mani, age 88, of Canton, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on September 3, 1928 in Louisville, Ohio to the late Albert and Lucile (Egger) Zumkehr. Martha was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Canton. For many years she served as Co-Chair of the church library, taught Sunday school classes and was a member of the Welcome In Class. She was a member of Mount Union Women's Club, College Club of Canton, Antique Group and Mercy Service League where she was a volunteer buyer for the gift shop.

Martha's greatest joy was spending time with her family especially traveling with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bridge, trying new recipes, gardening and antiquing.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Zumkehr, and three brothers, John, Wendell and Edward Zumkehr. She is survived by her husband, George, with whom she would have celebrated 68 years of marriage on May 28th of this year; her children, Janet (Douglas) Pierce of North Canton and Robert (Michele) Mani of Des Moines, Iowa; brother, Charles (Cathy) Zumkehr of Boca Raton, Florida; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael Richter) Pierce, Emily Pierce, Andrew (Nicole) Pierce, Robert Mani II, Adam Mani; great-granddaughter, Mahlee Pierce; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday, February 17th from 5-7 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 3909 Blackburn Road NW, Canton, Ohio 44718. All are welcome to attend the Interment on Saturday, February 18th, at 10 a.m. at Union Cemetery in Louisville. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ. Pastor Andrew Taylor Peck will officiate.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ahmed and the people at Tri County Hematology for the loving care they gave Martha for many years; as well as, Dr. Tirmonia, the nursing staff at Mercy Medical Center's ICU and the Mercy Hospice Team.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Martha's name to Trinity United Church of Christ.
