Martha Ellen Green Machamer, age 89, of North Canton, Ohio went to be with her Lord on Friday, June 1. Martha was born in Hartville, OH on October 7, 1922 to John and Ollie Green, the youngest of six children. Martha graduated from Hartville High School in 1940. She married her husband, Harold, in Covington, KY on March 10, 1940. Martha worked for several retail stores in Canton, but her most significant time as an employee was with the Snyder Insurance Agency of Uniontown. Martha was a life-long member of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church of North Canton. She was an active member of the St. Jacob's Quilters. In the past she was a member of the Lutheran Church Women, taught Sunday School, was the prayer chain coordinator and served on the church bereavement committee. An excellent gardener and baker, Martha was especially known for her custard pies. She was also involved with the Lake Township Seniors Center and an avid euchre player. Martha was preceded in death by her brother Harry Green; sisters Sylvia Harter, Alverta Bishop, Mary Weisel, and Ethel Lare; sons Kenneth Machamer and Terry Machamer and grandson Ryan Machamer. She is survived by her beloved husband, Harold; son Steve (fiancée Lori Kramer) of North Canton; daughter-in-laws Judi Machamer of North Carolina and Tamra Machamer of Florida; grandsons Troy (Ruth) Machamer of North Carolina, Bryan (Lauren) Machamer of Florida, Steven Machamer of Louisville, OH; granddaughters Tracy (Tim) Elsass of Connecticut, Kelly Machamer of Florida, Kasey Machamer of North Canton, OH, Johanna Machamer of North Carolina; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A private burial will be held at St. Jacob's Cemetery on Saturday June 9 at 2:00 pm. A memorial service at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, 1460 State St. NE, North Canton, OH will be later at a date to be determined (call the church office at 330-877-2676).
