Mark Dewayne Escott, age 53, of Canton, unexpectedly went home on January 14, 2011, after suffering a long illness. Born in Canton, he was a 1975 graduate of Oakwood High School and Stark State Technical College. He was employed by the Timken Company, Goodwill Industries, Rotek, and Kennemetal. A lifelong sportsman, he was happiest when hunting with his father and best friend, Alfred A. Escott who precedes him in death. He is also preceded by a grandson Evan Paul Escott, and many more loved ones. Mark is survived by his soul mate of 28 years, Pamela (Gettles) Escott of Canton and their children Jennifer Escott, of New York City and Michael (Kelly Guy Hickin) Escott of Canton; mother, Arla Jean (Sanor) Escott; brother, Dale (Lisa) Escott; sisters Lori Jean (Eric) Bratcher, Cheryl Escott Levinsky; nieces and nephews Jessica Escott, Christina Escott, Joshua Escott, Benjamin Bratcher, Aaron Bratcher, Anna Bratcher and Elizabeth "The Beeze" Escott, and his extended loving family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, whose generous spirit and crooked sense of humor will always be missed. Though his loss is devastating, his family is joined in relief that his suffering has ended. Funeral service will be Wednesday; 12 noon in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW with Rev. Jeffrey Brown and Rev. Cynthia Theobold officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to any local mental health charity.
