January 14, 1930 – August 13, 2024
After a long and productive life, at the age of 94, Jean has ended her earthly journey. She was born in Freeport Ohio, the daughter of Alpheus Morrow Hannum and Nellie Barrett Hannum. She was a graduate of Lehman High School, class of 1947, and Kent State University. She was a research scientist at Firestone/Bridgestone research for 40 years, doing work that she loved. She was also a very talented vocalist and lover of music. She was an active member of First Christian Church for many years where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was also a devoted member of Grace United Methodist in Atlanta. Her last years were spent in Venice Florida close to her daughter Jocelin. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hackathorn, her brother Glenn Hannum and her parents. She is survived by her daughter Jocelin Hackathorn, her daughter-in-law Margaret Churchill, her loving niece Marcia Kendle and many other nieces and nephews. May her memory be a blessing. Graveside services will be Friday, August 23, 2024, at Sunset Hills Burial Park at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers please consider planting a tree in her honor.
