Marilyn Louise May, age 78, of Hartville, passed away Monday morning April 20, 2009 in the comfort of her home. Born in Canton on September 2, 1930 to the late Arthur and Gertrude (Kline) Bast, she was a 1948 graduate of Central Catholic High School and 1951 graduate of St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing. Early in her career, Marilyn taught nursing at Aultman Hospital, was the In-Service Director of Molly Stark Hospital- Louisville, and retired as the Director of Nursing from St. Joseph's Hospice, Louisville. Marilyn, with her husband Richard, enjoyed camping and fishing. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Richard Carl May Sr.; children Deborah Campa of FL, Richard Jr. and Jill May of Uniontown, Mark and Kathy May of Hartville, and Michelle May of North Canton; grandchildren Olivia May, Kristine (Stuart) Whitacre, Lauren May, and Taylor May; great-grandchildren, Britton and Adriane Whitacre; one great-grandchild on the way; brother Bernard (Gretta) Bast of MI; sister Jane Bast of Cleveland; other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by brother Howard Bast and grandson Brandon May. Calling hours are Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday 11:30 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Wieczorek celebrant. Final resting place is the church cemetery.
