Mrs. Annemarie Elisabeth "Marie" Reinwald, age 106, of the House of Loreto passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010. She was born on January 16, 1904 in Nuernberg, Germany and immigrated together with her husband Hanns to the United States in 1925. Widowed at age 59 Marie lived and worked in Canton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and three brothers. She is survived by a nephew, Kenneth Arnold of Utica, NY, nephew Fritz and wife Sue Reinwald of Durango, CO and grandniece Ute Howland of Soquel, CA. Following her 100th birthday she moved out of her apartment on 15th St. NW. After a brief stay in Independent Living she resided at the House of Loreto Nursing Home for the past 5 years. There her longevity was extended by the loving care from the devoted sisters, the nurses, staff, the volunteers and fellow residents of the home. She could not have been in nicer surroundings. Blessed with good genes, a zest for life and humor, she treasured her fierce independence and was always interested in people, music and travel. Marie will be greatly missed by her friends, among them Geraldine Frey and her family, Walt and Laurie McCollan and Steve and Cathy Frey of Minerva, OH, Mary Ellen and Mike Kilanowski of Slidell, LA, Heinrich and Kathi Walz of Canton, OH and her friends in Germany. Her friends wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to the House of Loreto for the compassionate care always extended to Marie. Thanks also go to Marie's long time physician, Dr. Johns for years of medical care. It was Marie's wish to be cremated. The Arnold Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements. There will be no calling hours but a Memorial Service for Mrs. Reinwald will be scheduled at the House of Loreto Chapel at 3:30 PM Sunday January 16, 2011.
