Marie A. Nye, age 89, of Canton, passed away Monday evening in the Hospitality House. She was born in Massillon to the late Roy and Ruth (Ackerman) Slight. Marie graduated from Washington High School in 1942 and Kent State University in 1946. She married Thorald Nye on August 10, 1946. Marie was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Canton Garden Club, Garden Club of Ohio and Buckeye State Button Society. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, collecting buttons, beading, volunteer work, and reading daily crosswords. The family would like to thank Dr. Janowicz and the staff of the Hospitality House for their care. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thorald in 1988, brother; Robert Slight, sister; Anna Slight, Brother-in-laws; Darrel Nye and Richard Norton. Marie is survived by son; Roger (Marlene) Nye, sister; Evelyn Norton of Louisville. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Private graveside services were held for the family.
