Margaret Serre Mazzei, age 92, of Ft. Myers, Florida formerly of Euclid, Ohio, passed away on September 22, 2015. She was born in Canton, Ohio to Ira and Marie (Swartzbaugh) Rinehart. Following high school, she headed to New York City for a career in dance including time spent as a Rockette and later as a choreographer. As that career ended, she became a tireless volunteer feeling that she always got much more than she gave in everything that she did. She was an active member and president of the Euclid General Hospital Junior Board. She was the first woman appointed to the Board of Trustees of that hospital. Margaret also pursued volunteer opportunities with the Cleveland Chapter of the American Red Cross which led to her becoming Chairman of Volunteers on local and state levels and Chairman of Volunteer Issues on the national level. In recognition of her service she received the Cynthia Wedel award given by the Red Cross to volunteer leaders. After moving to Ft. Myers, Fl. she became Chairman of Volunteers and a board member of the Lee County Chapter of the Red Cross. Margaret was preceded in death by husbands Sherman Serre and Julio Mazzei. She is survived by her daughter Delphine ( Greggory Tschantz), grandsons Matthew and Michael and cousins in the New Philadelphia area. The care and support that was provided by her special Florida "angels" was very much appreciated. Friends and family remember her as a gracious hostess and a major fan of Frank Sinatra. A private funeral service was held for the family with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your local Red Cross. Please sign the guest book.
