Obituary

Margaret Lois Gray, born Sept. 21, 1918, of Canton died Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Born in North Canton, Margaret was descended form the pioneer families of Stark County and joked that she was related to most of the names on area street signs. She was a 1937 McKinley High School graduate and a lifelong member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church. She worked for the Stark Count Treasurer's office for many years under four different Treasurers. Preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Mary Schneider, husband of 53 years Francis Patrick Gray in 2001, brother Luther (Alice) Schneider, sisters Mary Schneider, Rebecca (Ward) Curtis, and Harriet (Richard) Hose. Survived by daughters Carolyn (Mark) Keller of Perry Township, Charlotte Braden of Florida: son Fred (Rosie) Gray of Jackson, Township and six grandchildren Matthew, Allison, and Stephen Keller, Laurel and Douglas Gray, and Jacob Vaughn; sisters Janet (Walter) Reed of N. Canton, Virginia (Ned) Drukenbrod of Hartville, brother William (Carrell) Schneider of N. Canton and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was a hard worker, a loving mother, and a good friend, and had many life long friends. She loved family, children and long visits in that order. This past year Margaret made her home at Chapel Hill Community in Canal Fulton. The staff and chaplain will always be remembered for giving Margaret such loving care. Chapel Hill Community has been a wonderful home and the family is eternally grateful for their extraordinary kindness. A memorial service will be Friday, April 11th 6:30 P.M. in the Chapel at Chapel Hill Community, 12200 Strausser St., N.W. Canal Fulton, with Chaplain Sandra Hutchinson officiating. Memorials: Mother said the she treasured every card and visit she received these past years. The regular cards from nieces Miriam, Cindy, Heather, Heidi, Mary Ann and nephew Pete, as well as the many cards from mom's friends at Martin Luther Church and others brightened her life, were read over and over and meant so much. Those were the memorials mom cherished. If you want to do something else, mom would say "Hug Somebody"
