Marcia, a Registered Nurse, was born February 27, 1935, in Greenville, Pennsylvania. She was a 1953 graduate of St. Michael High School in Greenville and a 1956 graduate of Spencer Hospital School of Nursing in Meadville, Pennsylvania. Initially employed at Greenville Regional Hospital, she met and fell in love with Chuck, an Ohioan and employee of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron. They married in 1957. In subsequent years, Marcia continued her nursing career at Akron City Hospital, St. Thomas Hospital, and United Church Homes, The Chapel Hill Community, in Canal Fulton, where she also trained staff as Director of Inservice. In addition, Marcia enjoyed serving her community as a volunteer instructor for the Red Cross.
Most important to Marcia was faith and family. A devout Roman Catholic, she was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales, Portage Lakes, for 68 years and it was there where she witnessed and celebrated numerous family milestones. She valued education, sought it for herself, and through her words and actions instilled this value in her children and grandchildren. She taught her family the importance of working to the best of one's ability and of persevering through hardship. She also demonstrated joy in life. Trained in dance as a youth, she was thrilled that Chuck was a natural dancer. They were a beautiful pair on the dance floor. She loved athletics and was a talented ice skater who amazed and delighted her children with jumps, spins, and tricks on ice. She loved beauty in nature, especially the serenity of the ocean, and shared this love with her children and grandchildren in decades of trips to parks, lakes, and seashores.
