Marcella June Lavine, age 87, of Canton, passed away Saturday morning September 2, 2006 at Canton Regency. She was born in Akron, Ohio on June 12, 1919 to the late Milton and Florence (Lewis) Morris. One of three girls, her sisters are Elaine Marks and Phyllis Johnsen. A 1937 graduate of Buchtel High School, Marcella worked for her father who was a photographer. She married Richard E. Lavine on September 12, 1945. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1991. Marcella was an accomplished artist. During the 1960's she won the Canton Art Institute's May and Fall Shows. Her artwork was chosen to be exhibited at the Akron Art Institute. She taught art and ceramics at the Canton Jewish Center and was on the Fine Arts Committee at the Jewish Center. She is survived by her son, Dr. David Lavine of Detroit, MI; nieces and friends. A private funeral service will be held in North Lawn Cemetery Tuesday (Today).
