IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Magdalena
Miller
March 29, 1929 – October 14, 2022
Magdalena "Lilly" Miller known affectionately as Oma joined her beloved husband O.D. and sons Dale and Don with the Lord on Friday, October 14, 2022. She died peacefully in her home holding the hands of her family amidst all of her favorite things.
Lilly was born March 29, 1929 in Munich, Germany to the late Johann "Hanz" and Maria (Hauslmeier) Hunger. Lilly immigrated to the United States in 1947 at the age of 18 to marry the love of her life, Orland Dale "O.D." Miller of Hartville, OH, whom she met while he was serving as a Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII. Together they established O.D. Miller Electric Company headquartered in Louisville, OH, and grew the company to support their families and the families of their treasured employees for generations. Lilly and O.D. shared generously with the Louisville community.
Lilly was an active and devoted Member of Christ United Methodist Church in Louisville. She was an avid and talented golfer and enjoyed volunteering her time in numerous local service projects. She loved being a helper and was known to drop everything at a moment's notice if she could do something for someone else. She loved her animals and she loved birds. Most of all she loved her family, and whether she was talking about them or spending time with them, there was nothing dearer to her.
With her characteristic ornery smile, Lilly always teased, "I used to be young and pretty, but now I'm only pretty". At 93, she was as beautiful as ever, and she generously shared time with family and friends. Lilly was preceded in death by her husband O.D. Miller, sons Dale Miller of San Antonio, TX and Don Miller of Louisville, OH and her sisters Hanna Montag and Elvira Charlotte Hunger of Munich, Germany.
The legacy of her unwavering strength and perseverance, humility, and selfless love and devotion will live on through her family and friends. Her spirit and memory are carried on by her beloved daughter Karen Ickes and her husband Robert Ickes, who Lilly proudly proclaimed took incredible care of her, sharing vacations, meals, and precious time for decades; daughter-in-law Linda Miller of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Melissa Ickes Natale (Andrew Natale) and Jessica Ickes Tsoufiou (Adam Tsoufiou) of North Canton, OH, Emily Ickes Inkrott (Mitch Inkrott) of Columbus, OH, Serena Miller of North Canton, OH, Kyle Miller (Kristin) of Cedarville, OH, and Kristie Miller Valdez (Jeff Valdez) of San Antonio, TX; great-grandchildren Benjamin and Jackson Tsoufiou, Wesley Inkrott, Sadie Miller, Bella and Hunter Valdez, and Olivia, Jackson, and Chloe Miller; and numerous grand puppies.
There will be a private prayer service for immediate family. Her final resting place will be in the Beech Mennonite Church Cemetery alongside O.D. All are welcome to share a memory or send condolences to Lilly's family via the Arnold and Spiker-Foster-Shriver website, www.arnoldfuneralhome.com. Lilly was a great supporter of Stark County Humane Society and St. Jude's Cancer Hospital. Please consider making a donation in her memory.
