IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Luise Rudner
Weintraub
May 5, 1921 – August 29, 2012
Luise Rudner Weintraub. Our family is deeply saddened to share that, after a long and well-lived life, cherished wife, mother and grandmother Luise Rudner Weintraub died Wednesday, August 29, 2012. She is survived by Robert Weintraub, her beloved husband of more than 67 years and her children, Marilyn (Paul) Feldman, Diane Galvin and Phil Weintraub (Bruce Lazarus). She also leaves behind her adoring grandchildren, Steffanie Goldberg (Dana Zager), Lisa Goldberg, Aaron (Amy) Galvin, Jared Galvin (Jenna Orchen) and great grandchildren, Dylan Zager Goldberg, Mia Alexis Rose Galvin and Lana Harlow Fisher Galvin. Born in Canton, Ohio on May 5, 1921, Luise was the devoted daughter of Fishel S. and Esther Fried Rudner, and loving sister of Allan (Madeline) Rudner. She reveled in her extended family and never lost touch with her many cousins, aunts and especially her favorite uncles, George and Jack Fried. After graduating from Lehman High School in 1938, she attended the University of Michigan and majored in classical piano. Engaged in 1942, she and Bob were married at the Hotel Onesto in Canton on August 5, 1945, upon Bob's return from his three year tour of duty in Africa and Italy during World War II. Luise was deeply committed to the growth and continuity of the Jewish community in Canton and was an avid supporter of Israel. She was a member of the Shaaray Torah Synagogue, its Sisterhood, the Jewish Federation of Canton and the Jewish National Fund. Closest to her heart was Hadassah; Luise was a charter member and later President of the Canton Chapter. Next to her husband and family, nothing touched Luise's life more than the beauty of music. As a piano student, she gave her first recital at age 11 playing pieces by Hayden and Bach. Her interests in flowers, music and theatre were shared by Bob, and together they enjoyed Broadway musicals, the Cleveland Orchestra, Canton Symphony and the Canton Ballet. They loved to dance, and glided across the floor with an uncommon style and grace. For many happy years, she and Bob enjoyed their beautiful home on Lakecrest, a large circle of friends, annual family vacations, summers at Arrowhead Country Club, playing bridge and above all else, sharing Taggert's ice cream - a tradition that lasted from their high school days until just weeks ago. As she grew older, her home was filled with the love of her grandchildren Steffanie, Lisa, Aaron and Jared. They gave her great joy as they grew to be accomplished adults, and gave her a new lease on life with spouses Dana Zager, Amy Galvin and Jenna Orchen, and great-grandchildren, Dylan, Mia and Lana. Her later years left her with a diminished physical self, but her will and wry humor were strong until the end. Dr. Radha Podugu made Mom's final years as comfortable as possible, thanks to her personal attention and thoughtful care, and for that we are very grateful. Luise will be missed more than she could ever know, but her life will live on in the hearts and minds of those she loved and those who love her. May her memory be a blessing. Funeral services will be Friday 11:00 a.m. at Beit Ha'am 432-30th St NW, Canton, Ohio 44709 with Rabbi Jon Adland, Rabbi John Spitzer and Hazzan Bruce Braun officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah, the Fishel and Allan Rudner Fund at Shaaray Torah or a charity of the donor's choice. Shiva will be observed at the home of Marilyn and Paul Feldman Saturday and Sunday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Arnold 330-456-7291
