Edna Lucy" Metcalf, age 97 of Hartville, went home on Monday morning December 1, 2008 in comfort at her daughter's home where she had resided for 3 years. Born on June 23, 1911 in Cheshire Township, Ohio to the late Harvey Nelson and Sally Eunice (Swisher) Darst, she graduated from Cheshire High School. She worked at Monarch Tire and Rubber, then was a career nurse's aide at Robinson Memorial Hospital retiring in 1982 to help care for her grandchildren. She was a charter member of Open Door Baptist Church. She always said she was a tough old bird. Preceded in death by her son Tommy in November 1967; she is survived by her daughters Barb "Susie" and Jerry Carpenter of Hartville, Sharon and Ron Tessmer and Linda and Paul Wilkinson all of FL, Fran and Dick Cugini of Ravenna, Betty Boston of Hartville and Patty Dennis of TX; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren with one on the way and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call Thursday 4-7 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. Funeral services will be held Friday 11 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Butterfield officiating.
