Obituary

Lois Jeanette Strait, 91, has been called Home by her loving Savior. Born Lois Gilchrist in Newton, KS, she graduated from high school, worked a year, and then took a train to Columbus, OH to marry the love of her life, Winfred Kenneth Strait, who was serving in the WWII Army Air Corps. Married 73 years, their life-long devotion to one another is the stuff of romance novels, and together, they have painted a tapestry of what a blessing enduring love can be. Lois was a mother and homemaker. In addition to her love for WK, it was her love of children, her passion for music, her creativity and her servant's heart that were the foundations of her life. She raised three children, and then went on to shower love on others' children throughout her life. She was a seamstress, singer, pianist, and a compassionate friend to so many. Lois served faithfully doing church music (piano/organ/bells/choir), church work (committees, card ministry, camp grandma, VBS volunteer...), and God's work beyond the walls of the church (ecumenical women's service, nursing home fund raising, sewing & blanket-making ministry, and on and on it went). In addition to her beloved WK, she leaves behind 2 sons, Gary (Rima) of Littleton CO and Michael (Irene Chung) of Tara Hills CA; daughter, Rebecca Strait (Gary Wilbanks) of North Canton OH; 4 grandchildren, Bryon (Nicola), Ari (Joanna), Elan (Janeace) and Sevan; 7 great-grandchildren, Mckenzie, Paige, Payton, Mason, Jillian, Ryan & Oliver; and countless other extended family and friends who loved her dearly. A long-time member of Hillside Christian Church in Wichita KS, she attended First Baptist Church of Canton after she and her WK moved to Ohio in 2008. There will be no memorial service at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to First Baptist Church of Canton (4110 38th St. NW, Canton OH 44718 / http://fulldevotion.net), or the Alzheimer's Association (http://alzfdn.org/Donation-Page/donate-to-find-a-cure-for-alzheimers-disease.html).
