Obituary

Lloyd "Rus" Wayne Petteys, Jr., age 76 of Hartville, OH, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Aultman Hospital. He was born July 21, 1946, in Toledo to Lloyd Wayne and Elma Ruth (Birch) Petteys. He married Helen Rebecca Wagner on June 21, 1970.

Lloyd attended Anthony Wayne High School in OH and graduated from Shippensburg High School in PA in 1964 and Shippensburg College in 1968. He loved his work in management and computer programming, working at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, Aultman Hospital in Canton, OH, Geisinger Hospital in Danville, PA, and Sisters of Charity in Baltimore, MD.

Lloyd was a longtime member of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church where he loved singing in church choir and serving on the church council. He always gave his time to the communities where he lived, including volunteering at Lake Township FISH food pantry and coaching softball teams. His wife of 53 years was his travel companion. They loved cruises, long road trips, and spending time with their family.

He is survived by his wife Helen; children Becky Petteys (Michael Agostini) of Newton, MA, Heather Petteys (John Umbaugh) of Ann Arbor, MI, and Jeff of Hartville, OH; grandchildren Max, Ollie, and Violet Umbaugh; sister Kathleen (Robert) Miller of Carlisle, PA and brother Dennis Petteys of North Baltimore, OH; 10 nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and nephews. Lloyd was preceded in death by sister Marcia Humer and brother James.

Calling hours will be Friday, July 7th, 5:00-7:00 PM at the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 8th, 11:00 AM at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, 1460 State St. NE, Canton, OH, with Rev. Angel Jackson officiating. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church 10:00-11:00 AM Memorial donations may be directed to St. Jacob's Church (https://www.stjacobselca.org/simply-giving) or Lake Township FISH Food Pantry (https://www.laketownshipfish.org).
