Linda Sue Kohn, age 78, of Canton, Ohio, passed away on March 27, 2026.
Linda was preceded in death by parents Louis Reitzen and Sylvia (Salba) Reitzen, and by beloved daughter, Lisa Kohn.
Linda is survived by spouse Joseph (Joe) Kohn; daughter Michelle (Kohn) Kisner; son-in-law Russ Kisner; and cherished granddaughter Sophia Kisner.
Born on November 9, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, Linda was raised in Jackson Heights, Queens, where Linda attended high school and formed lifelong friendships. New York was always home to Linda, a place filled with family, dear friends, and memories that remained close to heart throughout life. Even after more than 50 years living outside of New York, Linda proudly held on to a strong New York accent.
In September 1969, Linda met the love of her life, Joe Kohn, at a dance in Great Neck, New York. After seeing Joe, Linda told a friend, “That’s the kind of man I want to marry.” Two months later, on Thanksgiving, Joe proposed. The two were married on May 24, 1970, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted more than five decades.
Joe and Linda were each other’s best friends. They complemented one another, balanced each other beautifully, and simply loved being together.
After marriage, Linda and Joe moved to Southern California, where they welcomed two beautiful daughters, Lisa Joy Kohn and Michelle Robyn Kohn. Although California held many happy memories, Linda and Joe longed for cooler weather and to be closer to family. In 1985, due to Joe’s career, the family relocated to Canton, Ohio, where they built a full and meaningful life.
Linda loved being a mother and was actively involved in her daughters’ schools, often volunteering as a room mother or chaperone. But Linda’s greatest joy and proudest role was being a loving grandma to Sophia, her “buddy.” Nothing brought Linda more happiness than simply being with her granddaughter. Many of Sophia’s friends held a special fondness for Linda, who was truly loved by all.
Before having children, Linda worked for many years as a secretary. After moving to Southern California, Linda became a top Avon salesperson, excelling in sales while building lasting connections and friendships. However, Linda’s greatest and most cherished role was being a stay-at-home mother—or, as Linda preferred to say, a domestic engineer—devoting herself fully to raising her daughters and caring for her family.
One of Linda’s proudest accomplishments—beyond being a devoted mother—came later in life when Linda returned to school as a nontraditional student. Linda attended Kent State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2008, a milestone achieved with determination, perseverance, and pride.
Linda was creative and talented, with a deep love for arts and crafts, including needlepoint, latch hook, and sewing clothes. Music brought great joy to Linda’s life, with an impressive knowledge of songs from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, especially favorites by Neil Diamond. Linda was also a wonderful dancer, mastering popular dance styles from the cha-cha to the mashed potato.
A true fashionista in her younger years, Linda loved clothes and always followed the latest trends. Sports were also a favorite pastime. Linda enjoyed both playing and watching basketball, with the New York Knicks holding a special place in Linda’s heart. Linda was equally passionate about the New York Yankees and never missed watching their games. Bowling was another hobby, and Linda participated in bowling leagues throughout the years. Her greatest love was figure skating, and Linda found special joy in bringing her granddaughter to Disney on Ice, creating treasured memories that will last a lifetime.
Family and friendships were central to Linda’s life. With a large extended family of many aunts, uncles, and cousins, Linda remained close to relatives through the years and maintained friendships across the country. Extremely outgoing and warm, Linda had a gift for building relationships and could make friends anywhere.
Linda enjoyed staying active in local women’s groups, community organizations, and her children’s schools, and always treasured time spent with friends—whether sharing meals, shopping, or simply being together.
Travel was another shared passion, as Linda and Joe loved exploring the country together and with their children—from Hawaii to Florida—along with road trips, shopping, and discovering new restaurants.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home. Burial and interment will immediately follow at Canton Hebrew Cemetery.
