Linda Anne
(Bentz) Parsons
June 20, 1943 – October 16, 2017
Linda Anne (Bentz) Parsons, 74, of Canton, Ohio passed into the arms of her Savior on Monday, October 16, 2017, in Mercy Medical Center. Linda was born on June 20, 1943 in Canton, to Ralph Wilbur and Laura Maxine Bentz, and married Douglas Claud Parsons on March 21, 1964. Linda loved music and served over fifty-years in music ministry as choir director, pianist, organist, instrumentalist, handbell director, vocalist in church and community choirs, and composer of both piano and sacred music. Additionally, Linda enjoyed traveling, reading, and attending her children's many events. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Douglas. Survivors include her sister, Nancy Bentz Thompson of Painesville, Ohio; her treasured children, Steven Douglas Parsons of Canton; James Ralph (Elizabeth) Parsons of Macedonia, Ohio; David William (Dana) Parsons of North Canton; and Laura Anne Parsons Lytle of Canton; as well as many beloved friends and members of the musical community. Linda was a graduate of Glenwood High School and an alumnus of Malone University. In addition to her musical endeavors, Linda was a former employee of the Credit Bureau, Pellegrino Music Center, Gulia Music, and Peace United Methodist Church. Her book, "I Can't Hear the Music Any More: One Family's Journey with Frontotemporal Dementia," featured the family's trials with her husband's illness, and couples her appearance in the full-length documentary, "Beyond Laughter and Tears: A Journey of Hope." Linda was a member of Peace United Methodist Church in Louisville, Ohio, East Ohio Emmanuel Emmaus Community, American Guild of Organists, and served as an ordained Music Minister with the General Evangelistic Association. A celebration of Linda's life will be 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Peace United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave. N.W. and one hour prior to the service in church on Friday.
