Obituary Text: Lillian L. (Swimmer) Knell, age 95, of Canton, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 at her home, surrounded by loving family and friends. She was born in Canton on May 13, 1913, to Max and Dora (Gordon) Swimmer. Lillian was a fashion model when she met and married Morris Knell in 1934. She retired when her children were born and focused her life on her family and community service. She was a member of Temple Israel, Hadassah and Temple Israel Sisterhood. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Morris "Moe" Knell; her parents, Max and Dora Swimmer; her sisters Anne Lipton, Jean Shepard, Irene Jaffee, Evelyn Dumas; her brother Morrie Swimmer; daughter-in-law Arlene Knell and son-in-law Simon Tamny. She is survived by her son Dr. Leonard Knell and daughter Sandi Knell Tamny, both of Canton; grandchildren David (Carolyn) Tamny of Columbus and Alan (TJ) Tamny of Flower Mound, TX, Stephanie (Peter) Knell Klein of Chicago, Doug Knell of Thailand and Greg Knell of Oakland, CA; great grandchildren Amanda Tamny of New York City, Matthew Tamny of Columbus, Kaela and Olivia Klein of Chicago and a host of other close family and friends. Services will be held Monday, September 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Avenue North, Canton, OH 44714, with Rabbi Leah Herz officiating.
