Lillian Phillips Freedman 99, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. She was born on January 30, 1916 in Canton, Ohio to the late Joseph and Sarah Phillips. Lil was a member of the Shaaray Torah Synagogue, where she spent countless hours volunteering in the kitchen for the Men's Club and Hanukkah dinners with her family and her best friend Rose Smuckler at her side, Shaaray Torah Sisterhood, and B'nai B'rith. She could also be found at the VA Clinic helping wherever she could be of service. Lil will be forever remembered for having the infamous candy cupboard, shopping in the basement, the grand children's money drawer, daily trips to Wendy's and Fishers Foods, countless Friday night dinners and her memory photo wall. Lillian lived a full life, gave generously and was loved. Preceeded in death by husbands Samuel Greenbaum and Howard Freedman; Also by her brothers, Max, Eddie, Hymie Phillips; sisters Martha Embly and Dorothy DeSure; daughter Elaine and son‐in‐law Joel Moskowitz; son Stanton Greene; daughter‐in‐law Maureen Freedman; grandson Craig Moskowitz; and grandson-in‐law Dan Karlen. She is survived by her brother Arnie Phillips of California and sister Millie (Ted) Blumenfeld of Columbus; sons Dr. Nelson Freedman of Kingston, Ontario, and Martin (Carol) Chapman of Minerva; daughter-in-law Thamy Greenbaum of Canton; grandchildren Steve (Sheryl) Greene of Nevada, Michael (Nancy) Greenbaum of Hartville, Kimberly Peyton of Nevada, Marc (Nancy) Freedman of Canada, Jordan Freedman of Canada, Sean (Mary) Henry of Canada, Marla (Dan) Householder of Texas, Jill Karlen of Canton, Michelle Moskowitz of Toledo, Rachel (Chris) Stroup of California and Leah (Josh) Vincent of Maryland; great grandchildren Hillary and Caitlin Greene, Hannah Greenbaum, Donald and Alisha Benke, McKenzie, Samson, Jacob, and Elliot Freedman, Evangeline, Beatrice, Otis and Nathaniel Freedman, Patrick and Jessica Henry, Serena (Chris) Hernandez, Aviva (Chris) Jernigan, Judith Karlen, Kyle Moskowitz, Olivia and Elizabeth Vincent; and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to St. Luke's and Crossroads Hospice and to her very special niece Gaye Gibson and husband Charles for their love, care and support. Funeral services will be Friday 11:00 am at the Shaaray Torah Synagogue with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. Final resting place is the Canton Hebrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stark County Humane Society, P.O.
