Obituary

Lewis A. Kull, 87, went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2011. One of six children, Lew was born in Tuscarawas, Ohio, on June 4, 1923, to the late Elizabeth and Charles Kull. The family later moved to Canal Fulton, where he graduated in 1941 from Canal Fulton High School. During World War II Lew served his country in the Pacific Theatre with the 452nd Signal Radar maintenance unit. While stationed in Hawaii, he developed an appreciation for the beauty of flowers. Following the war, as part of a veteran on-the-job training program, he trained with two florists in Canton and Michigan. In 1951 he purchased Gilmore Florist in Canton, where he had trained and become manager, and renamed it Lew Kull Florist. A gifted designer, he was in the floral business for over 50 years. In 1944, he married Charlesana Thomason, with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage before her death in January 1991. He was also predeceased by a son, Lewis Linn Kull, and a brother, Charles Kull. Lew was a former member of the Grace United Church of Christ, and for the past 20 years has been a member of Perry Christian Church, where he had served as deacon and elder. For 58 years he was a member of Trinity Lodge No. 710 F & AM. He is a past president of the Emerald Court, Order of the Amaranth, the Sertoma Club, and the Tri-County Floral Association.
