Leroy W. de Graaf, age 73 of Canton died Sunday in Columbus, OH following a brief illness. Born in Gary, Indiana to the late George & Sadie (Lolkema) de Graaf he was an Army Veteran. Lee retired from Human Resources with Nationwide Insurance, following his retirement he served a Personnel Director at Walsh University. A long time and dedicated member of Christ Presbyterian Church, he served as an elder, he also held many other leadership positions as well as a member of the choir. His community activities included past chairman and long time member of the Canton Museum of Art. He sang in the Canton Symphony Chorus and was an active member of the Retired Executives and Professional Men's Club (OFC). He was also a member of Canton Rotary Club. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Rose Van Til de Graaf in September 2011. Survivors include two daughters: Rebecca de Graaf of Columbia, MO & Susan de Graaf of Columbus, OH. Son: Larry de Graaf of Durham, NC. Four grandchildren: Tessa Rose, Ben, Ariel and Wyatt. Two sisters also survive: Marilyn Heys & Judy Riddle. A memorial service celebrating Lee's life will be 6:30 P.M. Thursday in Christ Presbyterian Church.
