Leonard Dale Kannal, age 71, passed away on Thursday, September 17th, 2023, at Summa Health Akron City Hospital after being in Intensive Care for nearly 3 weeks. He was born on August 12th, 1952, to Arthur Roland Kannal and Grace Alameda Moon in Canton, Ohio.
Leonard grew up in Hartville, Ohio and loved the country life, cars and electronics. His life was filled with simple pleasures and a deep love for his family. His favorite hobbies and past times included HAM Radio (License # KB8PXK), listening to music, riding his Harley-Davidson® Sportster motorcycle, cleaning, taking care of his plants, and cooking healthy meals which brought him a great deal of happiness.
He attended Lake High School and worked at Teledyne Monarch Rubber while supporting his young family in Hartville. He worked most of his remaining career in Hartville and Uniontown.
Leonard is survived by two daughters, a son in law, two grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews along with friends and his lifelong buddy, Perry (HAM Radio License # N8VXQ) who enjoyed attending HAM Radio events with Leonard including a memorable trip to Berea, Ohio in 2016.
Brother to Jean Griggy Banfield, William Kannal, Patricia Steely, Victoria Kannal and Richard A. Kannal who was also a HAM Radio operator (License # KB8PXO).
Leonard was a huge fan of dogs and was thrilled to have his grand dog in the hospital with him in his last days. The family would like to thank the Summa Health Akron City Hospital ICU team for their compassionate care: Dr. David Szilagy, Dr. Matthew Chandler, Dr. Kennedy-Snodgrass, Dr. Jordan Lockhart, Nurses; Shannon, Jordan, Katie, Jessica, Ian, Patrick, Katherine, Delaney, Gina, Kayla, Marissa, Leah and Jennifer.
Services were held at Arnold Funeral Home - Hartville.
