Leonard W. "Jake" Haines, age 83, of Canton died peacefully in his residence on July 4th. Born in Canton to the late William L. and Minota (Thompson) Haines he was a graduate of Lehman High School attended Kent State University, and was retired for Haines & Company. A Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War, Jake was a member of Trinity Lodge # 710 F & AM, Stark Consistory York Rite Bodies, Royal Order of Jesters, Tadmor Temple where he served as Potentate in 1980, Emeritus member of Board of Governors Shriners Hospital Erie, PA, Past president of North Canton Heritage Society, and former member of North Canton Jaycees. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister: Mary McGeorge, brother William K. Haines and a grandson Zachary Moorhead. He is survived by his wife: Mary of the residence. Three daughters: Maggi (Dan) Hunt of Loveland, OH, Julie (Robert) Moorhead of Cincinnati, OH, and Molly Haines of Canton. Two step daughters: Emily (Jim) Maas of Arlington, TX, and Laura (Jack) Morris of Haiku, HI. Six grandchildren: Emily (Jeff) Bernardi, Jeff (Cassandra) Hunt, Alex (Liz) Hunt, Tyler Hunt, Anna Moorhead, Mai-Ling Maas. He was a very proud great grandfather of 6 grandchildren: Lucas, Myles, Coraline, Grayson, Guinevere and Amelia. Sister: Nancy Jo Brannick of Canton and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive. A Masonic Funeral Service will be Thursday 12 Noon in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave N.W. where friends may call from 10 to 11:45 A.M.
