August 29, 1929 – July 26, 2017
Leon "Dale" Trommater, age 87, of Hartville formerly of Hart, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning July 26, 2017. He was born on August 29, 1929 in Hart, Michigan to the late Earl and Eunice (Coddington) Trommater. He served in the Army, Signal Corp. serving in Japan during the Korean War. He returned to the family dairy farm. He married Donna Robbins on July 3, 1971. Together they fostered children, operated the dairy farm and were members of Hart Wesleyan Church. Additionally, they were active in the development of the Hart Historical District and operated Kids at Hart Daycare Center. He was known for his love of antiques especially his 1925 Model T. He was fondly called "Tinker" as he was always busy creating treasures everyone continues to enjoy.
He is survived by his wife Donna; daughters and sons-in-law Jeannine and Brad Chesser of Suffield Township, Sarah and Rodney Refuerzo of Sterling Heights, MI, Velma Hopkins of Hart, MI; grandchildren Robert Titus, Matthew (Ana) Titus, Reagan and Jasper Refuerzo; 2 great-granddaughters Sophia and Clara Titus; brother Jerry (Vi) Trommater; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews who dearly loved him and spend much time enjoying the farm with him; and other relatives and friends as well as those who they took into their home as part of their family. Preceded in death by brothers Glenn, Claire, Max, Don, Gene Trommater; and sisters Marge Calhoun, Betty Brooks, Jo Ann Erdman.
Calling hours are Monday 2-3 PM, July 31st, at Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 3 PM with Bill Trommater officiating. The celebration continues at Wingfoot Lake State Park. At a later date, a service will be at the church in Hart Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hart Wesleyan Church.
