Obituary

Lee Rowland Kost, 78, was tragically taken in a senseless act of violence on Thursday, May 15, 2008. He was born on January 11, 1930, to Henry and Olive (Rowland) Kost and was a lifelong Canton resident. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1948 and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Thereafter, he attended Kent State University and worked for more than 30 years at Dun & Bradstreet as a financial analyst. Preceding him in death were his former wife and only true love, Marilyn Lee (Wilbanks) Kost, his brothers Blair, Wayne and Wilbur, and his sisters Kay Barr and Irma Taylor. He was survived by his son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren who all reside in Virginia and many nieces, nephews and good friends. Lee was involved in many organizations through the years including the McKinley Booster Club, the Committee for the Renovation of Fawcett Stadium, the American Legion and the Pro Football Hall of Fame Luncheon Club. He enjoyed spending his retirement years with his family and friends and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed rooting for the Tribe and the Bulldogs. Lee will always be remembered as a person who could also tell a great story and was blessed with a tremendous sense of humor. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, friend and citizen and will be deeply missed by all. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. PRIVATE service will be 11:00 A.M. with interment to follow in North Lawn Cemetery. The family would like to sincerely thank the Brecksville and Canton police for apprehending those who took him from us prematurely and deprived our family and community of many more years with him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the National Parkinson Foundation 1501 NW 9th Avenue/Bob Hope Road Miami, FL 33136-1494.
