IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry
Parks
April 18, 1948 – December 3, 2021
Larry Parks, 73, of North Canton, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 3, 2021. Born April 18, 1948, in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Harry and Irene Parks of South Bethlehem, New York.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol, Children: James Parks (Deanna), Jackson Township, OH; Carrie Schaaf (Brian), Hilliard, OH; Joshua Parks (Jeanie), Goshen, NY; Christin Stoutner (Cory), Whitehall, WI; Colleen Hockensmith (Corey), Chambersburg, PA; Joel Parks (MeLana), North Canton, OH; Jordan Parks (Jennifer), North Canton, OH, and 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Carol Neidlinger of South Bethlehem, NY.
Larry was a graduate of Ravena-Coeymans High School and then Siena College with a B.S. in Business. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. In 2009, he retired from Fed Ex Ground after nearly 40 years as a workers' compensation claims manager.
Larry loved his God, family, and country with all his heart. He served on the board and as an usher at Canton First Church of the Nazarene. More recently, his faith was nourished by worshiping at The Chapel in Green. He never hesitated to share his love for Jesus Christ with others. Even if you had never spoken to him, you could see it on his face, observe it in his actions, and often read it on his t-shirt.
A devoted husband and father, Larry was a family man in every sense of the word. He worked tirelessly to support his beloved wife and their seven children, never too weary after a long day to play catch, give baths, read stories, and say night-time prayers. He often shared his dinner with seven little mouths (who had already been fed) begging for a bite. In his retirement, Larry enjoyed showing his classic cars, golfing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Adoring the love of his life was his favorite pastime. Stealing a dance every chance he could, he loved her truly, madly, deeply, every day of his life.
A true patriot, the American Flag still proudly waves atop the flagpole in front of his home; a symbol of loyalty, strength, and courage, personified in this man of faith. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 4:00PM on Friday, December 17th at The Chapel in Green, 1800 Raber Road in Uniontown. A brief calling hour will start at 3:00PM for those that wish to pay their respects before the service. In lieu of flowers, please donate in his honor or memory to The Wounded Warrior Project or Haven of Rest. Please sign the tribute page.
