Kenneth E. Hablitzel, age 80, of Massillon, passed away in his sleep at the Hanover House in Massillon Saturday, September 21, 2013. He was born in Canton to the late Wilbur and Ilo (Kinney) Hablitzel and a graduate of Timken High School. Kenneth served in the US Navy 1951-1955 aboard the USS Rankin during the Korean War. He married Anne R. Hablitzel on March 18, 1989. Kenneth retired from the Timken Company in 1995 after 40 years of service and was a volunteer firefighter for the Edgefield Fire Dept. for 15 years. He and his wife, Anne, were Executive Directors and Mentors for preliminary pageants in the Miss Ohio/Miss America Scholarship for the past 25 years. Kenneth was a member and past President of the Canton Gyro Club since 1992. Kenneth is survived by his wife; Anne R. Hablitzel, son; Kenneth E. (Ann) Hablitzel, Jr. of Biloxi, MS. Step-son; Brent S. (Laura) Lane of Austin, TX, sister; LaVonne (Harold) Furry and brother-in-law; Allen D. (Marianne)Rose of Denver, Co. Nieces; Denise (Larry) Haupt and Diane (Clyde) Stryffeller and a nephew James (Lisa) also survives. A memorial service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW with Rev. Kevin Slyh officiating. There will be no calling hours.
