Kendal B. Douglass

Kendal Bruce Douglass, beloved husband, father, papa, and great-grandfather, surrounded by loved ones, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior after an extended battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on March 1, 1940, in Canton, OH Kendal was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Grace Douglass, and by his son, Kenneth Alan Douglass. A proud Canton native, Kendal graduated from Timken Vocational High School in 1957. He continued his education at The University of Akron, earning an Associate Degree in Mechanical Technology in 1980 and Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Technology in 1983. He remained a loyal and proud University of Akron alumnus throughout his life.

In 1958, Kendal married his high school sweetheart, Judy Nicholson, beginning a lifelong love story that spanned nearly 68 years. Together they built a family centered on love, faith, and devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy, with whom he would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on September 27, 2026.

Kendal is also survived by his daughter, Debbie Douglass Roth (Andrew) of North Canton; granddaughter Meghan Douglass of Canton; grandson Patrick Douglass of Boise, ID; granddaughter Jillian Roth Reyna (Luis) of Northfield, OH; great-granddaughters Araceli and Selena Reyna; and Louise Mineris Stewart of Naples, FL.

Kendal enjoyed a successful career in engineering and manufacturing, retiring from Steel Equipment Specialists (SES). He also worked for Morgan Engineering in Alliance, Ohio, where he applied his technical expertise and strong work ethic throughout his career. A man of deep faith, Kendal was a dedicated member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Canton, where he served as both an Elder and Deacon. He was also active in his community and civic organizations, serving as Past President of Sebring Country Club and as a Board Member of Alliance Country Club. Kendal found great joy on the golf course, especially alongside his wife, family and friends and during cherished winters spent in Englewood, Florida.

More than anything, he loved supporting his grandchildren, enthusiastically attending their sporting events and fine arts performances at GlenOak and Hoover. His family was his greatest pride, and he treasured every opportunity to be involved in their lives. Kendal will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to family, quiet strength, and generous spirit. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he loved so dearly.

Calling hours and funeral services for Kendal will be held on Thursday, September 10, at Christ Presbyterian Church (530 Tuscarawas St. W, Canton, OH). Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow immediately at the church, and all are welcome to attend. Kendal’s final resting place will be at Warstler Cemetery (2633 55th St NE, Canton, OH).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kendal's memory to the Christ Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund, The University of Akron Foundation, or a charitable organization of your choice.
