Obituary

KATHRYN LOUISE WRIGHT STERNER Born Kathryn Louise Wright (Sterner), June 21, 1914 in Allentown, PA she graduated from Reading, PA Senior HS in 1,932 where she and her husband whom she married in 1940, William S. Sterner were classmates. She received a Normal School certificate from Kutztown, PA Normal School in 1934 then in 1939 a BS in Elementary Education from Kutztown University. She taught a total of 25 years in Reading PA & Piscataway, NJ. Since moving to Ohio in 1982 she has been a volunteer tutor at Avondale School, Plain Twp from 1982 to 2007. She is also a member of the Canton College Club. Mrs. Sterner has spent 57 years in Girls Scouts since 1952 as a leader, Neighborhood Chair, Organizer, consultant and is a life member. As a member of Westbrook Park Methodist Church in Canton she played handbells, was a member of UMW, New Directions and Good Timers. Her husband preceded her in 1997. Surviving are a son, Philip (Linda) Sterner of Davidson, NC, and a daughter, Deb (Don) Carter of Alliance OH. Surviving grandchildren are David (Conny) Sterner, Sarah (Evandre) Molina, Gregory (Elizabeth) Carter, Amanda (Steven) Radak, and Thomas (Stacy) Carter and step-granddaughters Michelle (Michael) O' Brien and Jennifer (Charles III) Elfert. She has 10 surviving great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Westbrook Park United Methodist Church Saturday April 18th at 1PM.
