She was born in Akron, Ohio on June 12, 1914 to the late Fremont and Lillian (Wagner) Fulmer and graduated from Ellet High School in 1932 as class Salutatorian. A first job was Woolworths 5 & 10. During Christmas breaks. After graduation, Kathryn with a girlfriend traveled to Chicago to attend the 1934 World's Fair. She had a love of travelling, and this love began when she drove her parents to see Mount Rushmore in 1936. She married Harold James Kandel on May 24, 1939. They made their home in Hartville for 63 years, The Danbury in North Canton for 7 years, and most recently St. Joseph Care Center in Louisville for 1 ½ years.
