Kathleen Crile Bernhard, age 97, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the Canton Christian Home. She was born on October 31, 1912 in Johnstown Pa. and moved to Ohio in 1918. Living in Orville for a short time, the family moved to Louisville, Ohio where Kathleen completed her education. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Kent State University for one year and later took a summer course at Heidelberg College. She moved to Canton and worked for Stark Dry Goods. A few years later she married Charles W. Bernhard in 1936. She attended the Arts Academy in Los Angeles Calif. in 1945 with a concentration on drama and speech. Later that year, she opened a private studio teaching dramatic art for 23 years. She was an active community leader in many organizations: The Canton Woman's Club, Trirosis, Eastern Star (50yrs), Mother Advisor of Rainbow, PEO Chapter BL (50yrs), Macdowell Music Club, Activities Chairman for Hall of Fame, Volunteer for Historical Society. She served as president for most of these groups. For over 30 years, she was a member, performer and volunteer for the Canton Player's Guild, As a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, she was an elder, deacon, drama director and Sunday School teacher for over 70 years. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law Sarah and Lincoln Stulik of Waldwick N.J., one granddaughter and husband, Jessica and Ludwig Molnar and one great granddaughter Katelyn Ann Molnar of Waldwick, N.J., one nephew Ronald Charlton and wife Georgann of Lynchburg Va. grandniece Melissa Fox and children; Alison and Charlie Fox. Preceded in death by sisters Naomi Esber and Mary Jane Charlton. Funeral Service Wednesday, May 5, 2010, 11:00 A.M. in the sanctuary at Trinity United Church of Christ with Rev. Stephen Gifford officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. Interment in West Lawn Cemetery.
